Chemainus B.C., Cowichan Valley, Canada:
Chemainus BC
giant murals line-the-streets, decorate the buildings and tell the success story of a small community's fight to survive as jobs started to disappear with the forestry industry leaving town. Today, the village is a popular destination to view beautiful works of art in the life-size murals, theatre productions and art galleries linig the streets.

An activity that is very popular here for bus tours is the waterfront park and wandering the streets of the village exploring the many unique retail shops, coffee houses, restaurants... and more murals. The foot steps painted on the sidewalk, seen all around town, actually is a walking route leading to all the murals and provides a great way to tour the community at the same time. Chemainus BC is a world famous destination for it's artistic outdoor display of murals, quality theatre and for its downtown core decorated in pastel buildings, hanging flower pots and blooming trees.
