Transfer
Beach. The Village of Ladysmith BC is centred around
one of the finest fully serviced public beach parks on Vancouver
Island called Transfer Beach. A popular gathering place for
locals and visitors because of the many activities and amenities
onsite. Not only is the beach covered in fine sand, driftwood,
shells and rocks - there are many viewing benches lining the

Because of the number of Gulf Islands and the close proximity
of all the islands to each other, the multi-day tours
and trips are considerably shorter paddling distances then some

- Winery
and Vineyards: The south Cowichan Valley wineries is
only a 20 minute drive away from Chemainus. The valley is the
home to many award winning wineries and vineyards with many
of then selling to international markets. The Cowichan Valley
fields are fortunate to be rich in soil and enjoying great weather
conditions for the grapes to flourish. Many of the wineries
are eager to share their brewing crafts and offer tastings and
tours. Cowichan Valley wineries and vineyards are locally cherished
and celebrated.

- Downtown Heritage Walk: Beautiful pastel
colors, buildings dating back to the 1800's. The main street
is covered in history and heritage through the display of commercial
buildings and homes. Delve into the past of this coal mining
town and discover it's past over a java at one of the cafes.
- Beach Worshipping: Let your toes play
in the sand or sprawl out on the lush grass or hit the concession
up for a meal while taking in the harbour views. Watch the marine
activity while taking a walk along the rocky shoreline. Park
has a large playground for children.
- Hiking and Walking: All various levels
of walking and hiking from the calm trail of Holland Creek to
the sweat and heart pounding induced hike up to Heart Lake and
it's panoramic views of the whole valley and surrounding areas.
Pack a lunch for the day or just escape for a few hours, the
trails of Ladysmith will satisfy.
- Mountain Biking: Many trails in the backwoods
of Ladysmith. Follow the power lines from one end of the town
to the other. Adventure seekers can go deeper into the woods
if so desire. Many jump areas throughout the trees and open
little valleys. A good short adrenaline injection for the soul.
- Museum: Visit with the past and come
and see the future. The rich coal mining history of Ladysmith
is captivated within the artifacts, ghost stories, and mining
photos restored at the Black Nugget Museum in the town of Ladysmith,
BC.
- Scenic Drives: Brenton Page Road leads
you into farming fields and glimpses of ocean and seaside living.
Yellow Point-Cedar Road Loop follows the coastline and takes
you just south of Nanaimo. Many off-shoot roads to explore here.
Chemainus Road is a beautiful oceanfront drive along the coast
with lots of ocean views.
- Road Trip: Take a 20 minute drive into
Chemainus and visit the murals and the Chemainus Dinner Theatre.
A half hour drive south leads you to Duncan and the Totem Tour.
A trip north into Nanaimo to experience some of the best shopping
on the Island is another good option.
