Englishman River Falls Provincial Park

Englishman River Falls EntranceEnglishman River Falls Provincial Park is lush, green and has a very well maintained gravel trail. There are many scenic natural viewpoints high above the waterfalls from many different angles.

In Englishman River Park one can hike down low to the lower waterfalls trekking through lush first and second growth forests following the river passing by a wide variety of Vancouver Island trees like the Douglas Fir, Cedar, Hemlock, Arbutus and, Canada's symbol, the Canadian Maple tree.

Englishman River Upper FallsThe trail route that follows the lumbering, rolling Englishman River enjoys some exploring high above also from the bridge looking down at the upper waterfalls. The river trail follows along cliff slopes crossing bridges along deep canyon rock cliffs.

Englishman River Lower FallsThe canyon walls, carved out by the roaring river connect the two waterfalls together guiding the crashing currents, all tumbling down. BCeh Adventure Dude Englishman River Falls Provincial Park spans out over 97 hectares which includes a day-use area with picnic shelter and bathrooms. The forest floor is littered with fallen timbers, ferns and branches covered with moss and lichens.

There is also a campground, resting benches along the trail, a large parking area, picnic tables, flush toilets, fresh running water and an information area. There is swimming in the lower pools and all pets must be leashed at all times. and fenced off viewpoints.

Englishman River Trail BridgeThe Englishman River Falls Walkway Trail crosses the river in two areas leading to excellent viewing of the upper and lower waterfalls. Depending on the season, the waterfalls create floating mists, with leaves dripping and condensation building which makes the walking conditions slippery at times.

Englishman River TrailSo, please do not veer off the trail at anytime as there are slippery steep slopes and canyon walls. Plus, we would like to destroy as little of the plant life as possible. So please in all seasons stay to the trail, no bushwhacking.

How to get to Englishman River Falls Provincial Park

Englishman River Falls is located just north of Nanaimo, 13 kilometres southwest of Parksville, BC, Canada. It is a short drive from Parksville - just follow the Alberni Hwy from Parksville and watch for signs. Turn on Errington Road and follow it for 8 km.
