Vancouver Island French Beach Provincial Park
French
Beach Provincial Park is one of the smaller Provincial
Parks on Vancouver Island. But what French
Beach Provincial Park lacks in size, it more then makes up for
in wilderness and wildlife viewing opportunities. French Beach Provincial
Park is 59 hectares of forests packed with Douglas Fir, Western Hemlock,
Cedar and some Sitka Spruce trees.
A short meandering wheel chair accessible hiking trail
leads to the beach. Once at French Beach there is a great
opportunity to see many species of marine animals. Time your seasons right
and you might get a glimpse of the migrating whales heading north for
food or catching them on the rebound heading south for warmth.
French
Beach is a popular spot for families and locals in the summer
time. Many of which take the advantage of the opportunity to go swimming.
All year it is a great spot to watch wildlife change with the seasons.
There are often photographers and bird watchers with binoculars hoping
to catch a sighting of their favourite marine moment.
Bald
Eagles, Ravens, and Osprey patrol the skies. In the distance
under the right conditions the Sea
Lions will surface and Seals will frolic
off the coastline for all to see. Come enjoy the marine views of French
Beach and the surrounding forests filled with looming trees and
their fallen siblings among the ferns, salal and wildflowers.
