Vancouver Island Parks
British Columbia,
Canada
The details, pictures, descriptions and directions of each Vancouver Island park and trail is listed under each community (links to your right). Some parks and trails are located within the boundaries of the community - and others are located a short drive away in the wilderness forests and mountains.
Vancouver Island National, Provincial, Regional and Community Parks all vary in size, amenities and activities. The national and provincial parks are under the management arm of our governments. They tend to provide the most services and recreational activities of all the parks.
There are parks established on the island which are protecting heritage sites, caves,
bogs, waterfalls, wetlands, bird sanctuaries, sandy
beaches, islands, old growth forests, lakes and heritage rivers. There are parks filled with statues, memorials and historic artifacts. There are flower garden parks - some public - some paid admission. There are allot of parks!
The Vancouver Island region enjoys an abundance of fresh and salt water marine routes and marine island parks which are accessible by boat, kayak and floatplane. The marine parks and waterways are a popular recreation destination for many water activities like kayaking, canoeing, fishing, scuba diving, boating,
sailing, swimming and beach combing.
Other activities enjoyed in Vancouver Island parks include hiking,
backpacking, cycling, rock climbing, wilderness camping, photography, caving, mountain climbing, hang gliding, kite surfing,
mountain biking, snow skiing, snow shoeing and snowmobiling.
