Rebecca Spit Marine Provincial Park

Rebecca Spit Marine Provincial Park is one of the smaller, yet peaceful parks on the unique west coast of Vancouver Island. The big plus is that the trails follow the coastline on both sides of the Rebecca Spit peninsula offering fantastic views of the surrounding islands and Quadra Island. The Rebecca Spit is located on Quadra Island in the Discovery Islands along the Johnstone Strait near Campbell River.

Sandy and pebbled beaches cover the coastlines and shorelines of Rebecca Spit. The flowing beach has some ideal settings for families to picnic and enjoy the swimming conditions in peace and tranquility offered by the protected calm waters of the cove of Drew Harbour.

The environment of the Provincial Park also ensures ideal conditions for windsurfing, beach combing, canoeist and kayaking. Rebecca Spit coastline is covered in ocean carved driftwood thrown ashore by powerful waves and rocks polished after centuries of enduring the west coast shine from the wind and currents.

Rebecca Spit Provincial Park is 2 kilometres long and 177 hectares in size with many areas for picnics with or without a picnic table. The Provincial Park also has some amenities like a large day-use/picnic area located near the sandy beach.

Other facilities found in the Rebecca Spit Provincial Park include pit toilets (2 are wheelchair accessible), fresh running tap water, a grass playing field and information shelters. Please do not wonder off trails into the wooded areas as we would like to minimize the damage to the wildflowers and forested areas. Shortcutting trails is a no no.

Rebecca Spit Provincial Park has a boat launch, located on the west side of the Spit near the park entrance. Often, on any day, when exploring Rebecca Spit one will observe boaters, kayakers and canoes having fun on the calm waters. There is some anchorage opportunities available in Drew Harbour on the west side of the Rebecca Spit.

How to get to Rebecca Spit Provincial Park

Rebecca Spit Provincial Park is located on the east side of Quadra Island at Drew Harbour. All visitors can reach Quadra Island via the BC Ferry Terminal in Campbell River on central Vancouver Island. From the ferry terminal, follow signs to the Cortes Island Ferry which also leads to the Rebecca Spit Provincial Park. Follow the signs.
