Sidney Spit Provincial Park is a marine park covering 223 hectares of foreshore, 177 hectares of upland landscape and an endless sandy beach. The massive sandy beach in the Sidney Spit Provincial Park is a day use park attracting many who enjoy the outdoors boating, swimming, sun tanning and picnicking.

The Spit, is a kayaking destination for many multi day users also. It is probably one of the must-see stops in the area for overnight adventurers because of the wilderness camping opportunities available on the island. Something kayakers take full advantage of on long haul paddle trips.

Sidney Spit Provincial Park is situated on a point fronting a busy waterway. Much of the activity on the water consists of recreational boats and sail boats. When on land, take some time to enjoy the sandy beach or go off and explore the battered cliffs ravaged by winds and waves or go observe the salt water eco marshes and wildlife. The Sidney Spit Marine Park is also a haven for bird life which attracts many birders. The Spit is a prime birdwatching destination because the area falls under the migratory path of so many birds. Each season brings a different mix of birds. Some of the more popular birds are the Bald Eagles patrolling the skies and the Blue Herons populating the shorelines.

Sidney Spit Provincial Park has picnic tables, hiking trails and is an ideal spot for swimming. Many adventurers visit Sidney Spit every year for the opportunity to do some wilderness camping. Rates do apply.

How to get to Sidney Spit Provincial Park: Transportation is by boat, kayak or by a foot passenger ferry operated by the Alpine Group of Companies. The ferry terminal is located at the end of Beacon Avenue in the hub of the community of Sidney, BC. There is a small fee for the ferry trip. The schedule changes with the seasons so plan ahead.

Traveling from Victoria to the foot ferry is only a 30 minute drive from downtown Victoria, BC along the Pat Bay Highway towards the community of Sidney.
