How to Get to Port Hardy, Vancouver Island, B.C., Canada:
502 km (312 mi) north of Victoria. Again... we must suggest the Hwy 19A (Oceanside Route) whenever possible traveling north. Where the Oceanside Route ends in Campbell River is where you begin your rugged wilderness trek into the backwood wilderness country following Hwy 19 ( North Island Hwy). An enjoyable and picturesque drive along 238 km (147 mi) of paved highways through thick rugged forests, over rumbling rivers, zigzagging through valleys and along mountain ridges weaving in and and out until you reach the town of Port McNeill. Continue 50 km (31 mi) further north located just off the highway along the ocean front you'll reach Port Hardy BC. Port Hardy offers BC Ferry service to Prince Rupert (Inside Passage) and to Bella Coola, (Discovery Coast Passage).
