On the shores of McNeill, in the town centre, is a marina with motor boats, sail boats, fishing vessels, crabbing boats and yachts coming and going. The harbour community has a 6000 foot dock moorage including 3500 feet of visitor berthage with amenities onsite like showers, laundromat and power. The harbour is also the site of the BC Ferry Terminal taking visitors and locals to Sointula on Malcolm Island and the First Nations community of Alert Bay on Cormorant Island.

Port McNeill, BC is a small town with many marine eco-tourism opportunities available like exploring the Fishing, Kayaking, Scuba Diving, Sailing, Bird Watching, Backpacking, Hiking and Whale Watching during the spring, summer and early fall seasons.

One of Port McNeill's most popular park destination for backpacking and remote sandy beaches is Cape Scott Provincial Park located on the northern tip of Vancouver Island. The winter season brings snow skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and snowboarding to the local snow hill operated by volunteers - Mt Cain . And... Port McNeill, BC is home to the 22 ton ' Worlds Largest Burl ' which was discovered in 1976 attached to a Sitka Spruce tree estimated at over 350 years old!

The community is easily accessible from Hwy 19 and has all the modern conveniences located closely together around the town centre and mostly within walking distance of each other. There are gift shops, restaurants, grocery stores, galleries, pubs, gas stations and a local strip mall. Port McNeill, BC is the central point to accessing the other unique surrounding villages of the north island region south of the community like Teleraph Cove , Woss, Zeballos and Port Alice.


How to Get to Port McNeill:  463 km (287 mi) north of Victoria. When coming to Port McNeill from south Island such as Victoria, try and use the Oceanside Route from Parksville one as it is far more scenic. The Oceanside Route ends in Campbell River and continues on as Hwy 19 ( North Island Hwy). A scenic tour of the absolute most rugged west coast wilderness on Vancouver Island. An enjoyable, worth every extra mile, a sit back and cruise for 200 km (124 mi) adventure through vast rainforests with thick lush undergrowth, rumbling over bridges protecting rushing rivers, cutting through valleys and along mountain ridges weaving in and around the cavernous mountain ranges until you arrive to the ocean front community of Port McNeill located just off Highway 19. Located only 50 km (31 mi) south of Port Hardy and the port for BC Ferry crossings to Alert Bay on Cormorant Island and Sointula on Malcolm Island.
