With a good set of binoculars visitors can view, in the distance, off the coastline Lasqueti and Texada Islands with the snow-capped Coastal Mountains looming in the background.

The Qualicum Beach village centre is very pedestrian-friendly with sidewalks leading people in and out of the many cute gift shops, art galleries, cafe houses, boutiques, community parks and restaurants. The quaint storefronts, many painted in pastel colors are alive with floral scents from the hanging flower baskets and gardens. In the Qualicum Beach region are some wildlife wildlife recovery centres to visit and some wonderful floral gardens and tea rooms to explore. The region along this central coastal portion of Vancouver Island is referred to as the Oceanside Communities and includes the following villages of Qualicum Beach, Qualicum Bay, French Creek, Bowser, Deep Bay, Parksville, Coombs and Errington.

The Oceanside region is a popular destination for activities like relaxing, golfing, caving, spas, waterfall parks, sandy beaches and hiking. People flock every year to nearby Rathtrevor Beach, for example, for a chance to play at low tide . Englishman River Falls and Little Qualicum Falls are some waterfall parks with groomed paths leading over wooden bridges looking down canyon walls at rushing rivers surrounded by forests (best season is late winter and early spring when water levels are the highest). Or... you can never go wrong by taking some time to visit the Horne Lake Caves for a day of spelunking and exploring middle earth.


Coombs Village: Located 15 minutes northwest of Parksville by car towards the Pacific Rim region. The Coombs area, consisting of Hilliers, Errington and Coombs villages, is a popular destination for shopping and amusement. The Coombs Village includes an assortment of eclectic shops and bistros including antique dealers, west coast clothing stores, artists' studios, farmer's markets, a butterfly exhibit, food stands, a store with live goats living on the roof and a children's theme park filled with rides during the summer.

Coombs Village shop's are of a one-of-kind-nature with many products and clothing designs sparking memory flashbacks bringing a laugh and smile to your face. Coombs is a treasure to visit and although it may be small Coombs Village can take up a big part of the day browsing and reminiscing.


How to Get to Qualicum Beach:  Qualicum Beach and Qualicum Bay, seeming they are so close to each other, is approximately only 160 km (99 mi) north of Victoria, BC. Qualicum Beach is only 10 km (6 mi) from the seaside community of Parksville BC. From Parksville, BC it is suggested to take the Hwy 19A (Oceanside Route), better views. Most of the drive is on the main Hwy 19 which is for when you want to drive in a straight line. Via the Oceanside Route there are beautiful oceanside views, beaches and the small village of French Creek with the ferry to Lasqueti Island.
