| Chesterman
Beach is a long fine sandy beach, ideal for long
walks, frisbee, surfing and people watching. Because the
sandy beach is so close to the village of Tofino, BC it
is an easy access recreational beach that draws many people
during the hot summer months and, also, during the winter
months during storm watching season.
Chesterman
Beach is, at low tide, a joy to explore on a
sunshine day and winter evening. At low tides the sandy
beach opens up exposing tidal pools, driftwood logs and
rock outcroppings.
At low tides, the ocean waters recede
and expose a sandy beach walk-way from one end of the
beach to the other providing fantastic marine views and
endless hours of beach activity.
The
southern portion of Chesterman Beach enjoys calmer conditions
and, what seems like, more endless kilometres of sandy
beach which is ideal for families, couples and singles
needing some quiet time.
The south end of the beach is closer
to the shoreline cliffs and is where many of the kayakers
go to play in the waves or to launch for a paddle tour
of the shoreline of the Pacific
Rim Park.
The bigger the ocean waves the more
surfers that are drawn to this beach. A popular beach
destination for the surfing adventurer.
How to get to Chesterman
Beach: Access to Chesterman Beach is off Lynn
and Chesterman Road. There are three access areas to the
beach with varying sizes of parking lots in the areas.
