Ucluelet Ucluelet (pronounced U-clue-let) is a waterfront marine community located on the shores of Barclay Sound on the west coast of Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. The village is a popular tourism and recreation destination surrounded by amazing marine scenery and protected by a, rough and rugged, ocean landscape. Ucluelet is a full service resort village catering to most needs of a traveler. Some of the services important to travelers available in the village include accommodations, adventure tour companies, gift shops, restaurants, marina, a bank, gas stations, a grocery store, a laundromat, coffee shops, campgrounds and a post office.
The village is centrally located on the west coast of Vancouver Island - ideally situated on the doorstep of many quality adventures. In the summer months visitors enjoy activities like sports fishing, hiking, kayaking, boating, camping, birdwatching, sailing, picnicking, swimming, flightseeing, sailing, wildlife tours, scuba diving, surfing, sightseeing, golfing and beachcombing. During the winter months the west coast storms arrive. With the storms comes large crashing waves, heavy winds, rogue waves and flying driftwood logs. It is the ideal weather for storm watching. At the beaches, where the logs do not fly as much, there will be surfers waiting for the next big wave.
The Wild Pacific Trail is a gravel and boardwalk path in the community that follows the waterfront. It is 8 kilometres long and provides a great opportunity for viewing the coastline. The waterfront pathway leads explorers to a lighthouse and to a few of the local sandy beaches. On some occasions wildlife can be viewed from the trail like whales, sea lions, seals, Blue Herons and Bald Eagles.
Ucluelet is a kayak and boating gateway to the Broken Islands Group. The Broken Group is a multi day marine adventure exploring over 100 islands. The community is also the southern gateway to the sandy beaches and hiking trails of the Pacific Rim National Park. A rainforest park with a very long sand dune.
